INITIAL 4 WEEK SUPPORT SERVICE WITHOUT AIRPORT RECEPTION: Please email   Mum Away From Home and request a price list.   The fee includes the following services for the first 4 weeks of your stay in Australia: Assist in purchasing a competitively priced mobile phone and sim card   to use on the Australian telecommunications network which suits the student's needs. Organise a good value telephone card for landline telephones the student   can telephone   parents and friends in their homeland at a cheap rate/per minute. Assisting in purchasing a MetCard which can be used on all of Melbourne’s transport networks.  Explaining how this card can best be used. Escort the student to their school on their first day and explain the best and fastest way to get there in future (tram, bus or train route). Assist the student and translate with the Bank representative when setting up a bank account at a reputable bank that would best suit their  requirements (i.e. low bank fees for students). Provide student with Mum Away From Home emergency contact information and mobile phone number and establish a support system for the student to help them cope with the initial “culture shock” and settling in period in Australia. Offer personal and practical support away from school. Take the student to the appropriate shops to purchase school uniforms / school shoes if required. Liaise with the student's school or college if there are any problems. Continuing telephone contact to ensure the student is coping well.
